Redcliffe
Heading north from Brisbane, this delightful coastal city is famous as the home of Aussie music superstars the Gibb brothers, better known as the Bee Gees. In homage to the music trio, Redcliffe has a free 70 metre multimedia walkway open 24/7. Redcliffe also has a waterfront promenade with views overlooking Moreton Bay.
Moreton Island
You’ll need to take the ferry across to Moreton Island. There’s plenty to do including hand feeding wild dolphins and snorkelling the famous Tangalooma wrecks. There’s an island resort for all your creature comforts.
North Stradbroke Island
Great beaches and a freshwater lake. If you’re visiting during the whale migration season, late May to early October, this is an excellent whale watching destination. Access the island by ferry from Cleveland in Brisbane’s south east.
Scenic Rim
This World Heritage listed area is a mere 60-minute drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Expect stunning scenery, local vineyards, walking tracks, natural rock pools, rain forests, and mountain ranges.
